Spring summer and fall

Fernie offers endless opportunities for fun and excitement, or just lazing around on our endless hot summer days. Fernie’s locals regularly vote May and September as their favorite months. Join us in the ‘off season’ and you’ll see why.

Activities in Fernie during the spring, summer and fall months (May – October:) offer options for everyone.

Popular options include fly fishing on the Elk River which offers some of the best dry fly fishing anywhere in the world.  Cutthroat trout and buck trout are abundant and can be caught from the shore or from a boat.  There are numerous fishing guides in town or you can try to find the spots yourself.  Either way you will have an adventure.

The Fernie Golf and Country Club is home to one of B.C.’s favourite golf courses with stunning views and an accessible par 70 course.

Mountain biking is a sport that is growing in popularity among visitors to Fernie, thanks to the incredible and growing array of trails that are maintained exceptionally well by the Fernie Trails Alliance.  Riding in Fernie can be relaxed ad easy going along the river or in the Ridgemont trail network or trails can take you into the Alpine via energy sapping single-track with epic downhills that last forever.  If you are looking for a guide to get you out into the trails all you need to do is ask.

Biking options continue at Fernie Alpine Resort where there is chairlift access to downhill trails for all abilities as well as ridge top hiking or simply taking in the scenery via a chairlift ride.
